Introduction

This                for Year 9 Timber Technology includes a week by week lesson sequence with a colour coded key indicating what resources, demonstrations and / or projects are required for each lesson. Assessment tasks are embedded throughout the program and overlap at times to allow for diverse abilities and ease of access to machines and equipment.

The                                                   requires students to follow instructions in order to build a Step Ladder and create a supporting document called the 'Folio'. The aim of the practical side of this task is to increase students understanding and skills in a wide range of timber tools and techniques as well as develop their ability to listen and focus during demonstrations & read and follow instructions. The aim of the theory portion of this task is to build the foundation skills of researching, planning, technical drawing, calculating measurements and costs and creating a record of production.

The assessment task is given to students at the beginning of the unit of work. It outlines numerous pieces of relevant information including the expectations, due date, marking criteria, weighting and syllabus outcomes.

For the practical component of the Step Ladder assessment task, students will be provided with a                                                  on each bench that contains orthographic drawings with measurements of each part and briefly describes each step demonstrated by the teacher to prompt the student's memories. This instruction sheet is also in Japanese as we frequently get ICET students join the class for the year.

For the folio component of the Step Ladder Assessment Task, students use google classroom to access the                          and other supporting documents that will help them build their knowledge and understanding of the necessary planning that needs to be done for practical projects.

The power points help support and engage students in the theory of Timber Technology. Each topic has 1 power point that helps facilitate learning through images, videos and highlights the key points for note taking. For each theory power point, there is a revision game power point of heads or tails to help engage students in the theoretical content and retain knowledge.

Classroom and behaviour management is supported through the use of a                                  ,                                and a

                                                        for each student.

The project / bench rotation plan helps to foster inclusiveness and team work. At the start of the project, everyone is a beginner, as students complete sections of the project, they become 'experts' of that section and other students are able to ask them for help. The bench plan also helps integrate the ICET students into the class and help them improve their English as they communicate with their peers sharing their bench.
